Looking at NASA’s Vegetation Index data, the news is good: the globe has greened 10% so far this century.
That’s good news because we know this ultimately means greater crop production area and forest expansion. Ironically, what many “experts claim to be a huge problem (CO2) is in fact one of the major reasons behind the greening.
Zoe Phin has a post on this topic at her site which really warrants attention.
Global Vegetation Index surges 10% in 20 years
Zoe downloaded all of NASA’s available 16-day-increment vegetation data from 2000 to 2021. Here’s her result:

“10% global greening in 20 years! We are incredibly fortunate!” Zoe comments on the results. “I just wish everyone felt that way. But you know not everyone does. To the extent that humans enhance global greening is precisely what social parasites want to tax and regulate. No good deed goes unpunished.”
Been greening 30 years!
This is not unexpected news to cool-headed climate realists. In August, 2019, we reported on a German study showing how the globe had been greening for 3 decades. Based on satellite imagery, German Wissenschaft reported, “Vegetation on earth has been expanding for decades, satellite data show.”
Sahara shrinking, becoming greener
Also not long ago a study by Venter et al (2018) found the Sahara desert had shrunk by 8% over the previous three decades. This is profound because the Sahara covers a vast area of some 9.2 million square kilometers. Eight percent means more than 700,000 square kilometers more area that’s become green – an area almost as big as Germany and France combined.
So in terms of vegetation, the planet probably hasn’t had it this nice in about 1000 years.
70% driven by CO2
And there’s more good news if you think CO2 is a problem as a greenhouse gas (it isn’t).
Last August, NTZ weekly contributor Kenneth Richard cited a study by Haverd et al, 2020), and wrote that “about 70% of the Earth’s post-1980s vegetative greening trend has been driven by CO2 fertilization” and that this greening will offset 17 years (equivalent) of the Earth’s anthropogenic CO2 emissions by 2100.
There are many more studies underpinning the good news of the greening planet – thanks in large part to mankind. It’s not as bad as the crybaby activists and media depict it to be. Not even close.

If only that were true.
You’ve only met the militant psycho vegans. They are the minority. The rest of us are realists and aren’t “saving the environment” by going vegan. We’re doing it mostly for health, and partly for animal welfare. But just know, even then, we know that not eating meat won’t “save” any animals. We’re not dumb, rather, it took a lot of hardcore research and science to go vegan, because you have to do it smartly or you’ll fail.
We know that we aren’t saving the environment or saving animals, but we do have to right to simply not participate in various things like factory farming eggs or the sickening water pollution caused by pig farming. Those things will exist in full despite me ceasing to eat eggs or pork, and I am well aware. I simply don’t want any part of those food production methods. It doesn’t make be better, but rather different. Being different is really what’s at the heart of hate for vegans. You just don’t like that we’re different, and that my friend, is entirely YOUR problem, not mine. Get over it man!
And for the record: WE DON’T HATE MEAT. We just want a healthier diet, and our choice, which we are free to make, and free to also speak about to others, is just one way to achieve that. And I do NOT eat “fake” meat products, rather, if I want meat, guess what? I EAT SOME!!!! It’s called being a “flexitarian” and it means you allow yourself to eat anything, but primarily eat a vegan or vegetarian diet. I don’t have meat or animal products at home but I did have a meatloaf sandwich the other day.
Militant, psycho vegans will refuse even leather. The rest of us, the majority, don’t give a crap and just want to be healthier. I have a leather wallet, a leather belt, sheepskin slippers, buckskin moccasins, and a down sleeping bag. Most vegans are the same. So please don’t paint us with your broad brush of ignorance and pigeonholing. It only hurts the knowledge base when others believe you and hurts the community when reasonable people trying to eat healthy are insulted so flippantly and so carelessly.

Certainly they don’t represent everyone, but despite meat eaters being in the majority, I am not aware of any “militant psycho carnivore” factions terrorizing the produce isles. I.e., your group is smaller and yet you have a higher percentage of screwballs. Just saying.

I’m not sure there’s any way of doing it “smartly,” unless you have a long tradition of how to, as many from India do. I met one many decades ago, the neighbor of some friends, and tasted some of what he prepared once. It was mostly rice, nuts, veggies, and fruit. Delicious and filling. AND, he wasn’t a screwball. But still, it’s your choice, and I wish you success at making it work for yourself.

When atmospheric CO2 increases, plants produce less stomata on their leaves to conserve water.
Plants are more water efficient when atmospheric CO2 increases.
And a second benefit is plants grow faster when there is more CO2. The optimum CO2 level for plants is around 1200 ppm.
When atmospheric CO2 is higher plants can grow with less water, as they lose less water out of their leaves.
“A group of scientists headed by Prof. Dan Yakir of the Weizmann Institute’s Environmental Sciences and Energy Department found that the Yatir forest, planted at the edge of the Negev Desert 35 years ago, is expanding at an unexpected rate. The findings, published in the current issue of Global Change Biology, suggest that forests in other parts of the globe could also be expanding into arid lands, absorbing carbon dioxide in the process.”

Greenhouse Gas Might Green Up The Desert; Weizmann Institute Study Suggests That Rising Carbon Dioxide Levels Might Cause Forests To Spread Into Dry Environments
The Weizmann team found, to its surprise, that the Yatir forest is a substantial “sink” (CO2-absorbing site): its absorbing efficiency is similar to that of many of its counterparts in more fertile lands.
These results were unexpected since forests in dry regions are considered to develop very slowly, if at all, and thus are not expected to soak up much carbon dioxide (the more rapidly the forest develops the more carbon dioxide it needs, since carbon dioxide drives the production of sugars).
However, the Yatir forest is growing at a relatively quick pace, and is even expanding further into the desert.
Plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, which leads to the production of sugars. But to obtain it, they must open pores in their leaves and consequently lose large quantities of water to evaporation.
The plant must decide which it needs more: water or carbon dioxide. Yakir suggests that the 30 percent increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide since the start of the industrial revolution eases the plant’s dilemma.
Under such conditions, the plant doesn’t have to fully open the pores for carbon dioxide to seep in – a relatively small opening is sufficient. Consequently, less water escapes the plant’s pores. This efficient water preservation technique keeps moisture in the ground, allowing forests to grow in areas that previously were too dry.
DON’T report any positive effects of CO2, no matter how true. (Wink, wink.) Doomsday activists and toady media won’t accept them. Fame & fortune depend on awful news, no matter how inaccurate or self-serving.

There are large basins within the Saraha Desert. Long long ago during the Ice Age that area was wet. It had lakes As the earth warmed and the weather patterns changed it dried up. What is the data from further North? Wetter and colder?
Also, take note of WHERE in Africa China has been buying up land and gaining influence. China doesn’t bow to PC, they bow to the CCP. They read the same reports and see the same images we do.

While climate change is real, it’s certainly not new or man-made and CO2 is just another excuse for taxing the socks off of people.
We all knew this would be the result of carbon which is s component of life so cannot be a problem if organisms produce it. Good sense prevalis at last. Optimism will overcome the pandemic. Next step is to curb population growth amid dwindling resources. End war now.
With more of the Sahara greening-up all these animals and more, will have an much easier life …
