The Republican Party’s leaders still don’t get it.

That’s the big takeaway from a newly-released strategy document from the largest Super PAC backing Republican House candidates.

The Congressional Leadership Fund spent $140 million in the 2020 cycle, and could very well spend even more in 2022. It will hold enormous sway over what candidates are recruited in next year’s House races, and what their message is.

Republicans substantially outperformed expectations in 2020’s House elections. While more forecasters predicted Democrats would gain a dozen seats or more, they instead lost 13 and emerged with one of the narrowest House majorities ever. There were many reasons for those gains. President Trump drove a dramatic surge in Republican turnout, but it was more than that. Millions of voters saw Democrats push an agenda of mass rioting and cultural arson and were understandably repulsed. Many voted for Republican House members even when they didn’t vote for Trump himself.

But according to CLF head Dan Conston in a newly-released memo, the victory came down to one thing: Putting a new, more “diverse” gloss on the tired pre-2016 Republican Party.

In 2020, all 15 of the seats Republicans flipped were won by a woman, a minority, or a veteran. They were candidates of character, heroism, and achievement. That’s not by accident. Leader McCarthy made it a priority from the outset to find strong candidates with compelling life stories that reflect their districts. [CLF]

In other words, the secret to GOP success going forward is to completely buy into the globalist left’s toxic ideology reducing people to identity checklists. And of course, when making that checklist, being a woman is better than being a man, and being “of color” is superior to being white.

This is toxic and suicidal. It submits entirely to the left’s moral framing, which is both wrong and something the left will always be better at. And, of course, routinely results in the election and promotion of subpar candidates. Consider Congressman Dan Crenshaw. Crenshaw supports foreign policy interventionism (including the quixotic, objectiveless mission in Syria) and “red flag” laws to roll back gun rights. Crenshaw called Donald Trump’s immigration positions racist until he became the president, and in 2020 he joined in the mob calling George Floyd’s fentanyl overdose a murder requiring nationwide police reform. Crenshaw is at best a shaky, uncertain political ally. His ideal Republican Party is George W. Bush’s, but pro-gay marriage. Yet because he is a veteran with an eyepatch, he is touted as a Republican all-star.

Candidates like Crenshaw are political junk food. They get attention. They raise money. They can certainly win elections. But just like eating too many Snickers bars will make you fat, nominating politicians based on backstory while ignoring policy is a recipe for long-term failure. It’s the strategy that causes Republicans to win Congressional majorities, then pass nothing of substance except tax cuts before being crushed by Democrats two years later.

The way forward for the Republican Party is to nominate good candidates, regardless of background, who understand and back President Trump’s fundamental realignment of the American political order.

Along with recruiting diversity-checklist candidates, CLF names only one ideological priority on its list of bullet points for winning in 2022:

We will win back the Majority if we’re clear-eyed about the obstacles in front of us, apply the lessons learned from 2020 and follow our plan to victory. It starts with these early keys:
• Continuing the recruitment success of 2020
• Fixing the GOP’s massive candidate-side fundraising problem
• Aggressively spotlighting the left’s socialist overreach & painting a contrast
• Heeding the opportunities and challenges in redistricting
• 50 opportunities to win 5 districts – maximizing our battlefield to retake the majority

Socialism? The House GOP’s go-to attack for the Democrats in 2022 is socialism?

The Democratic agenda of 2021 is so radical and unprecedented in American history that labeling it socialist is a preposterous farce. Democrats aren’t trying to nationalize the means of production or core national industries. They aren’t even making a bid for single-payer healthcare. Instead, they are launching a Maoist-style revolution to overthrow America’s history and its entire social order, so that it can be replaced with a new anarcho-tyrannical racial caste system. It goes far beyond the idiotic fodder on Fox News about canceling Dr. Seuss or renaming Mr. Potato Head. It’s an all-consuming vision that will loot and burn entire cities and call it “justice,” then charge a young man with murder for defending himself. It gives amnesty to 20 million+ illegal immigrants and lets in countless H-1B workers to suppress wages, while telling Americans that their country is a racist abomination devoid of any history to be proud of. It teaches Americans to fear Russian boogeymen while erecting an unprecedented Big Tech panopticon to control their lives and punish dissenters with ritual public humiliation.

The way to oppose this demented ideology is to name it for exactly what it is and offer a durable, transformative alternative vision of government that doesn’t simply accept every substantive premise the Regime’s corrupt ruling class operates on. Responding to Democratic “overreach” merely results in weak half-victories, and an inactive Congressional majority terrified of its own power. A real alternative to the Democratic Party must be something more.

The Congressional Leadership Fund’s strategy isn’t a plan to win meaningful long-term victories for the tens of millions of Republican voters who are actively hated by America’s ruling class. Instead, it’s a plan to get GOP nominal control of government and boost the salaries commanded by Republican lobbyists. From that perspective, it’s easy to see why they haven’t learned.

The fact that Dan Crenshaw can get elected is embarrassing. His campaign ad is literally a short superhero movie. That's got to be the most embarrassing campaign ad in history.
I guess he's got a lock on the 8-15 year old boy demographic.

There is no means, no person or organization to beat this illegitimate, corrupt gov and big tech. No political means, no peaceful means. Our founding fathers gave us the final option we have left. You will fight or you will die and there is not going to much time before you have to make that decision.

Definitely get your point — white suppressionism is now the dominant form of racism in this country — but that strategy document is talking about picking off Democrat seats, and maybe they're right, at least to an extent, particularly given the current moral hysteria over demographics, or "identity", as it's called.

Guest

No, the dominant form of racism is the one which will replace Americans with other ethnicity. March into a country, replace their government: That's an invasion. Eliminate the people of the country: That's destroying a nation.

Guest

there's only 1 socially acceptable form of racism in the usa and it's anti-White racism. It's the only racism that's actually systemic.

People are coming to the wrong conclusion about 2020. Republicans did well in house races because magically producing N. Korea style turnout and near uniformity in selection in heavily blue cities doesn’t change anything. A Democrat would still win there even with secure elections. The presidential and senate races can be owned with these overwhelming results in the deep blue major metro areas but not the house races. It will continue indefinitely because there are no red cities. There can be no doing the same thing to them. The county Hooverville is in and every other county like it conjuring up similar turnout and similar uniformity doesn’t add up to a hill of beans. Unless flooding the zone with ballots is curtailed the WH and senate are Democrat victories almost automatically going forward. But the house will probably go Republican in the next election and as everyone begins to realize what’s happening the only objection possible will be casting a Republican vote in house races. The house is the last redoubt in a corrupt system.

You are correct. But I'd add state/county positions down to dog catcher. We Hooterville residents can make a difference from representative down….maybe, but the movement to push urban style hud housing out to Hooterville along with placing new legalized immigrants in Hooterville is all aimed to weaken the resistance to democrat totalitarian rule.

I disagree with the premise of this article.. At the end of the day if were all together on Policy, Whether I'm Gay Straight Red orange it should not matter. That is why if you LISTEN to Trump, what does he always say. "That the one thing the Democrats do is stick to together". They have rotten policy but Pelosi slaps them in line. That is what Trump is doing. The History of the Republican party is independent thinkers. Which is great if your running a business. But this is Gov't. A Party must be Monolithic in it Policy approach or getting consensus is next to impossible. So Trump is slapping everyone into line. Meaning the Establishment Deep state holdovers will be primaried. So Cheney I am guessing will lose but run as an Independent That will be an interesting race with a Democrat to see. Hopefully the RNC will be ready and smart when this all goes down..

Even after an election in stolen in broad daylight in front of your faces people still look to a corrupt to the core, controlled, illegitimate system to save them. As long as there are electronic voting machines, there will never be another honest election in this country. Do you really think the dems are the only ones who have been manipulating election results? The republicans are just as dirty and their uniparty dem comrades, how do you think McConnell always wins his primary and general with an 18% approval rating in his state? Do you think it is only national elections they cheat in? Every single swing state had a republican majority state legislature, they helped steal the election.

You will not take your country back by voting in illegitimate elections.

I think it would help if everyone on the MAGA right could unite around a basic litmus test for our candidates and then go all in on these issues, like the left does. When they bring up 50 things a day and 100 different groups have their priorities, we don’t have a coherent rally point. I agree our top priorities should be immigration and the so-called cultural revolution. If we add 20+ million people to our country who are likely to support the cultural revolution, things are going to be very ugly. I would add public safety and ending mail-in voting, but I do think we need a laser-like focus on a small handful of issues to start turning the tide.

Guest

I can agree with the premise of the article. Essentially the GOP leaders bought into the leftist narrative and is trying to use their tactics against them by mirroring than by using their strategy to kill them from within and trying to form a coalition of strong cultures and values. Which funny enough they have done successfully in the GOP by co-opting various organizations, companies etc. Ever notice how when companies cared about paying a good wage it was before they went to China. Think about where things have been because they accepted the narrative and mirror than to learn and strategize around it. Free Markets, Enterprise, and money mean nothing without a strong culture and even stronger values that the everyman can back or vote for. Right now it's too much on pandering and it can not last forever.
