Biden Is No Moderate
President Joe Biden proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is not a moderate. His proposed $1.8 Trillion “American Family Plan” speaks for itself.
The above link contains the know details ahead of his Wednesday address to Congress and the nation.
Wednesday evening, Biden added climate change, a $15 minimum wage, right to organize, gun control, paycheck fairness, defense spending, charging stations, even a goal to cure cancer.
Biden Has Exceeded Progressive Expectations
Not that any more evidence of Biden’s Progressive slant is needed, but AOC’s praise of Biden is in and of itself all one would need to know that Biden is no moderate.
Please note that Biden has “Exceeded Expectations” that the Progressives had and AOC is pleased with his push.
“The Biden administration and President Biden have definitely exceeded expectations that progressives had,” the New York congresswoman, a star on the left of the Democratic party, told a virtual town hall meeting. “I think a lot of us expected a much more conservative administration.”
Ocasio-Cortez also said Biden had been “very impressive” in his approach to negotiating with Congress, resulting in the passage of “progressive legislation”.
“It’s been good so far,” she said.
Biden’s “American Socialist Plan”
The Guardian published that article on April 24, before details of Biden’s extremely progressive “American Family Socialist Plan” were disclosed.
AOC Pleased With Biden’s “Very Impressive” Effort
Since AOC is pleased, unless you are a flaming Progressive, you likely need a bucket in which to do the obvious.
The saving grace, I hope, is that Biden’s Lofty Economic Plan Will Be Dead on Arrival in the Senate.
Mish
Biden administration has already been taken different effective steps bro overcome the economic crisis and climate changes with out not emission CO2 significantly. AOC was pleased with chasing away 25000 jobs from her constituents.
ok comrade good for you.
I am OK with “American Socialist Plan”.
Way better than “Tinkle Down Economics”
Yeah. For 40 years, they pissed on the American people and told them that was trickle down! But now, these people are shocked that politics is taking a different turn??!! Color me surprised! 😉
Has AOC ever said anything remotely intelligent? Seems all she does is pose for photo ops and little video segments. Probably the most self centered politician currently in office.
Some people always have to have a boogie-man (or woman)…
Why do you even pay attention to her, then?
By the way, “self-centered politician” is kind of a tautology. They are generally in the same class of creature as news-anchor.
If you sell the entire country to the rich – Socialism would be a logical payback. Unfortunately, Biden and the Fed and Congress represent only the rich in reality.
So you lose either way.
If we look at some ways to pay for all this spending history can give us a few examples one of which I ran into reading “From Deficit to Deluge: The Origins of the French Revolution” by Dale Van Kley (1996) which studied the finances of the French Monarchy leading up to the revolution. A passage caught my attention. It was the system of the Thirty Genevan Maids”.
“Paradoxically, one unanticipated outcome of Terray’s measures was
to prompt the French government to orient itself more systematically
to the international money market. When Parisian lenders closed their
pocketbooks to Terray, he turned to the credit market not only in Am-
sterdam, where he was unsuccessful, but also in Geneva, where he was
able to market a loan of lifetime annuities in 1771 by offering extremely
favorable terms, the beginning of the famous system of the “Thirty Gene-
van Maids.” Owing to its poor credit rating, the French government had
come to rely on the sale of expensive lifetime annuities (rentes viagères)
that paid the purchaser interest until the person, or persons (“heads”),
named in the contract died, at which time the loan was ended. In 1771,
Swiss bankers started to figure out how to turn these lifetime annuities
into “a rousing good investment” by forming syndicates that bought up
French lifetime annuities on groups of thirty healthy young girls who had
survived smallpox. The bankers pooled the annual income derived from
the thirty lifetime annuities, so that even if one or two girls died, investors
could still count on a respectable income. In this way, the bankers turned
French lifetime annuities from personal, non-negotiable investments into
depersonalized, supposedly risk-free, easily marketed securities with “sci-
entifically” calculated rates of return, perfect for speculation and outsized”

This is a good example of securitization and the sophistication of financial markets at the time. Further on the he says that the selling of these annuities accounted for 40% of French Monarchal revenues. The fact that they could be pooled and then made attractive to investors using mathematics allowed a deep market for them to develop. Maybe the Fed should start selling annuities to finance the deficits. The market could take it from there. What could go wrong?

It’s a very correct analysis of Biden and the Democrat party these days. Not much more to say except that the mask is off.
What’s your take on French politics, parties and taxes?
Are you a fan of the RN? France for the French?
My take is that they have here in France too many Marxists like you which accounts for their underperforming economy.
Compared to the “outperforming” US economy where 60% of the people cannot afford to pay for a $1000 emergency??!! Mmmmkay!
I also wrote you a long reply on that subject when you asked me the same questions in the last post. Look it up.
SMH, no duh, really?? And water is wet. This is what all those who you derided as having TDS Type 2 or whatever other bs name you called were warning about!
No sympathy for your bitching and moaning about Biden- you get what you deserve!!

An excellent review of the state of American conservatism…
American conservatism has long been an incoherent and hypocritical creed.
There is nothing new about Republicans preaching balanced budgets while practicing fiscal profligacy; or prescribing laissez-faire for the indigent while expanding welfare for conservative constituencies; or equating public investment with communism while fighting to expand the most centrally planned sector of the economy. Ronald Reagan was a “small-government” conservative in the streets, but a Keynesian in the balance sheets.
Nevertheless, the ideological incoherence of the contemporary GOP is unusually severe. The Reaganites could not practice what they preached; post-Trump Republicans can’t settle on a catechism to hypocritically recite.
The party has a set of unwavering transactional commitments (to reactionary billionaires, provincial capitalists, and the Christian right). And some of its factions harbor intelligible agendas. But these contingents are no longer united by any overriding account of how public policy must change. Today’s GOP insists that corporate titans are “job creators” entitled to low taxes, but also “woke” traitors deserving of state persecution. It calls for an end to American nation-building in the Middle East, but also for Joe Biden to push for regime change in Iran. It derides welfare programs as invitations to dependency, but also evinces some interest in expanding refundable tax credits for working-class families. It wants to reassert American economic sovereignty by reshoring supply chains and protecting domestic manufacturing, but also to give multinational firms veto power over U.S. tax policy.
Republicans have less trouble articulating what they’re against: high taxes, immigration, Joe Biden’s fictional meat ban, and Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ property rights. But as this sardonic summary suggests, the GOP’s unifying antipathies are largely divorced from genuine questions of public policy. The social liberalism of consumer-facing corporations is a product of cultural change, not legislative action.
The Republican Party can not begin to address what it stands for until it decides if it is still the party of Trump and QAnon.

Still hyperventilating about hypotheticals?
Relax.
Theater is supposed to get you worked up.
The base gets excited, the opposition gets excited, and the result (or non-result) is entirely different.
Meanwhile, both of the wheels on the bus just went kathump, kathump over Matt Gaetz….
“On more than one occasion, this individual was involved in sexual activities with several of the other girls, the congressman from Florida’s 1st Congressional District and myself,” Greenberg wrote in reference to the 17-year-old. “From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman.”
The letter, which The Daily Beast recently obtained, was written after Greenberg asked Roger Stone to help him secure a pardon from then-President Donald Trump.
Family values, family values….
Now the Daily Beast is reporting that in late 2020, Joel Greenberg offered Roger Stone $250,000 to convince Donald Trump to pardon Greenberg and Gaetz. Stone replied that “I hope you are prepared to wire me $250,000 because I am feeling confident.” Greenberg committed a crime by offering to pay for a pardon, and Stone committed a crime by acknowledging that he wanted to get paid if he was able to make the pardon happen.
How come Gaetz hasn’t been charged with anything? or why wasn’t Stone charged for the alleged incident either? Hell, Stone was charged for obstructing a bogus investigation of russian interference in elections.
You do know that this is an FBI/DOJ investigation in progress?
That’s what makes this “breaking news”..
“American Socialist Plan”? We have already had that for at least 4 decades now. For the corporations. Tax cuts galore, big dollops of deregulation and near-total nonenforcement of antitrust laws.
She gets a lot of news coverage as pretty rage bait, but nobody listens to her.
Still better than Trump though, am I right? Socialist utopia coming soon!
