Facts behind the fact checkers

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

The normal connotation equated to “fact-checkers” would be associated with an effort to reinforce credibility. Unfortunately, today, it doesn’t always work that way.

Recently, Revolver News blew up a carefully conceived January 6th “insurrection” and “intelligence failure” narrative engineered by Global Oligarchs. Enter NewsGuard, a self-proclaimed “fact-checker” who targets conservative sites with a liberal agenda. Newsguard positions itself as an “internet trust tool.” It assigns “nutrition labels” to news sites and subsequently rates their “trustworthiness.” The “label” criterium is judged by “journalists” pretending to be unbiased ( think CNN). Only, the whole thing is a sham.

Just for starters, sitting on Newsguard’s board are recognizable former activist members of the Obama Administration, among other notable liberals.

Newsguard took exception to Revolver’s coverage of the COVID vaccines and was especially upset with their publishing of a guest piece written by a Naval commander. The commander had asked extremely pointed questions about the Pfizer “jab.” It came in conjunction with an impressive investigative report by Minit Press News.

From Revolver:

Newguard’s special concern for policing Covid information might have something to do with the fact that its third largest investor is a multi-billion dollar global communications company called Publicis Group. An excellent investigative report on Newsguard conducted by MintPress News revealed not only Publicis’ shadowy ties to the government of Saudi Arabia, but the fact that pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and Bayer/Monsanto are some of Publicis’ top clients.

Herein lies the problem.

The American Federation of Teachers is buying 1.7 million Newsguard licenses for teachers nationwide. They will then share them with millions of students. Since students turn to the internet in increasing numbers annually, they will be highly susceptible to stinted propaganda coming from a source that touts itself as a “fact-checker.” In short, Newsguard is cloaking cleverly concealed inaccuracies and, in some instances, flagrant conflicts of interests as facts. This is eerily reminiscent of the methodology employed by Joseph Goebbels in NAZI Germany.

Newsguard conveniently fails to disclose conflicts of interest in its news evaluation that might potentially impact the profits of the aforementioned pharmaceutical companies.  Yet, a key Newsguard selling point is that they employ journalists to determine if a website is appropriate to consider as opposed to outsourcing critical censors to Al algorithms.

Keep in mind! Journalists’ coverage of the Trump administration was 92% negative and 96% of journalists made donations to Hillary Clinton as compared to Donald Trump in 2016.  Fair coverage? More like a methodology of manipulation! Dr. Goebbels would be impressed!

Most disconcerting is the stinted propaganda being passed as facts. And equally disquieting is the fact that our younger, more impressionable Americans are noticeably impacted by this ploy!

Two important truisms emerge: This “top-down” manipulation initiative is being aided by the teachers’ unions and the Department of Education. This simply cannot continue! The other major concern is that media vehicles departing from the narrative are singled out as “outside the norm,” and in some cases, “conspiracy theorists.” Or, in the former Soviet Union, they would have described it as “counter-revolutionary.”

Moving forward, there must be a comprehensive initiative to “fact check the fact-checkers.” In essence, scrutinize those services that are positioning themselves as keepers of the facts. They must be placed under the microscope and called out with every discrepancy, large and small. After all, destroying credibility is a two-way street. Anyone who engages should be ready to “walk the walk.”

In other words, any company that promotes itself as an “internet trust tool,” subjectively assigning “nutrition labels” while issuing “trustworthiness” ratings, should be prepared to face the ultimate scrutiny in courts of law!

A second consideration should be the Department of Education itself. From Reagan’s presidency, there have been proposals for its abolition. And why not? It was a gift of the Carter Administration. In retrospect, Carter’s was a failed presidency. The agency has proven its readiness to weaponize the law in an effort to advance leftist ideology against states. Per the 10th Amendment, education is the responsibility of the states, not the federal government.

We must also take a hard look at disallowing teacher unionization at the federal level. In other words, criminalize the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. These unelected bureaucrats, most of whom harbor Marxist tendencies, are quietly indoctrinating our children. We cannot allow this practice to continue.
