WATCH: Beto avoids voicing support for any abortion restriction, says, ‘I trust women’

Former Democratic presidential candidate and current Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke refused to answer questions as to whether he supports any limitations on abortion after being asked by The View’s guest host Alyssa Farah multiple times Tuesday.

O’Rourke joined the talk show to discuss several political issues, namely the probable overturning of Roe v. Wade. He told the group of ladies that he trusts women when it comes to abortion, avoiding voicing support for any restrictions.

“Do you believe in any limitations on abortion?” Farah asked the Texas Democrat. “Whether it’s the third trimester, up until even the final month, 9 months?”

“I trust women. We should all trust women,” he answered, also reiterating his support of the precedent set in Roe v. Wade.

“Does Texas own the women?” host Whoopie Goldberg asked after O’Rourke said that the state is attempting to stifle women traveling out of state to receive abortions.

“Whoopie, you nailed it on the head,” he responded.

It’s “called fascism,” host Joy Behar chimed in.

“This is not about life,” O’Rourke added.

Targeting his gubernatorial competition, he claimed that Republican Gov. Greg Abbot is “attacking women,” “attacking democracy,” and launching an “attack on transgender kids” and their parents.
