NYC baby dies after being struck by Staten Island car, cops say

A toddler girl was fatally struck by a car Thursday morning while crossing a Staten Island street with her mom — whose blood-curdling screams were captured in a heart-wrenching video.

The child, identified as 20-month-old Lian Mashni, and her mom were crossing at the corner of Scarboro Avenue and Abbott Street in Rosebank around 7 a.m. when they were hit by a white Jeep, police said.

Video obtained by The Post shows the SUV suddenly turning a corner and careening into the mom and daughter as they crossed the street.

The two were violently knocked to the ground, the footage shows.

The mother is shown screaming in agony as the driver stops and comes to her aid – moments before others hear her cries and run over to help.

The baby was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North where she was initially listed in critical condition, but later succumbed to her injuries, cops said.

The 31-year-old mother was also hospitalized in stable condition, with injuries to her legs.
