WATCH: Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk announces he’s a father

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is now a father.

Kirk announced the birth of his first child on The Charlie Kirk Show Monday, explaining to viewers why he had been away for a week.

“Last last week was a week that changed my life,” Kirk said. “We welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world.”

The conservative commentator said that he and his wife, Erica, made the decision to keep the pregnancy and birth private.

“We did that for a variety of reasons, some being security, and also just being that it’s not about social media,” Kirk said. “In a world where everything is put on social media, where everything is constantly being posted and being talked about, we made a decision, my wife and I, to keep one thing rather private. And I’ll tell you, it was not easy.”

Kirk shared that he has gained a renewed perspective on the conservative ideologies for which he fights.

“When you look down in your arms and you see your child all of a sudden, everything that you’re fighting for, everything that you care about, everything that you are pushing forward gets into absolute clarity almost instantaneously,” Kirk said.

“And it was without a doubt the most transformational moment of my life,” he said. “And, boy, does it make you want to defeat the bad guys more than ever and to continue to fight for what is beautiful and what is good and what is true.”

Kirk made headlines last month when ABC’s The View mocked a TPUSA conference, saying it was connected to neo-Nazi protesters. TPUSA issued a cease-and-desist letter, demanding the “defamatory statements” be retracted. The View issued an on-air apology.
