Country legend and Alabama founding member Teddy Gentry was taken into custody Monday on a misdemeanor marijuana charge, according to authorities.
The arrest of the 70-year-old musician occurred in the morning during a traffic stop, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said, according to a report.
He was placed in Cherokee County Jail at about 10:38 a.m., according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Gentry, the bass player and vocalist for Alabama, is also facing one drug paraphernalia charge, the report noted.
He was released from the jail at about 11:06 a.m.
The jail log did not offer a bond amount relating to the release.
A spokesman for Alabama, Don Murry Grubbs, said he was aware of the arrest.
He did not offer comment from Gentry, according to the report.
Gentry and Alabama have been on top of the country music scene for decades.
