Twitter and social media generally are presently abuzz with bombshell accusations against Arizona governor Katie Hobbes. In a nutshell, a little known local insurance agent called Jacqueline Breger accused Hobbes and some other Maricopa county, AZ officials of taking bribes from the infamous Sinaloa drug cartel.

Though the accusations have taken off like a wildfire, as of yet Breger has offered no evidence to back up her claim. As one Twitter cautiously observes:

There are a LOT of us tweeting that there is evidence that
@katiehobbs has taken bribes from the Sinaloa drug cartel. Currently, there is ZERO evidence that these allegations are true. In fact, the lack of evidence provided by the accuser should give us pause.

First, the accuser Jacqueline Breger, a local insurance agent, who testified to the AZ elections committees didn’t provide ANY evidence to back up her claim that Katie Hobbs, several of the Maricopa County Supervisors, 12 Maricopa County Superior Court judges and the mayor of Mesa took bribes from the Sinaloa drug cartel.

Instead of evidence, Breger explains that her boyfriend, John Thaler, a local attorney, was told by his ex-wife that Hobbs and her fellow Democrats were involved in the racketeering scheme. Evidently, Thaler is working on a book about the scheme that will provide additional information. Berger claims that her boyfriend sent a draft of his book to former Governor Doug Ducey but he didn’t read it much less act on it.

At the end of the day, Thaler’s ex-wife might be right. Katie Hobbs and her fellow Democrats might be working for the Sinaloa drug cartel – but until she provides some sort of evidence – anything that can be confirmed or debunked – we shouldn’t be repeating this stuff. Jacqueline Breger, John Thaler, and his ex-wife need to bring their evidence forward BEFORE we start repeating it here on Twitter.

The above cautionary note is not a malicious attempt at blocking the spread of information that could be damaging to the regime. Rather, it is an attempt to prevent well-meaning Americans from undermining their own credibility (and the credibility of anti-Hobbs patriots in Arizona and nationally) by uncritically repeating an explosive story before we see any evidence to back it up. For instance, Revolver News has done more than any other outlet in challenging the official narrative of January 6th, which is precisely why we so vigorously pushed back against unsubstantiated claims of Ray Epps working directly with Nancy Pelosi.

Whatever merits of these claims regarding Katie Hobbs’ connection with the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel, the reality of the cartels’ associations is likely far worse.

Cooperation between certain drug cartels and US intelligence agencies has long been an open secret, as was recently established by one of the bravest and best-sourced journalists on the Mexican narco-state:

And more…

And of course there’s this amazing story…

Even Mexican officials are starting to spill the beans

Juarez, Mexico – The US Central Intelligence Agency and other international security forces “don’t fight drug traffickers”, a spokesman for the Chihuahua state government in northern Mexico has told Al Jazeera, instead “they try to manage the drug trade”.

Allegations about official complicity in the drug business are nothing new when they come from activists, professors, campaigners or even former officials. However, an official spokesman for the authorities in one of Mexico’s most violent states – one which directly borders Texas – going on the record with such accusations is unique.

“It’s like pest control companies, they only control,” Guillermo Terrazas Villanueva, the Chihuahua spokesman, told Al Jazeera last month at his office in Juarez. “If you finish off the pests, you are out of a job. If they finish the drug business, they finish their jobs.”

And then there’s this confirmation that the US provided protection to Sinaloa in exchange for information on rival cartels:

An investigation by El Universal found that between the years 2000 and 2012, the U.S. government had an arrangement with Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel that allowed the organization to smuggle billions of dollars of drugs while Sinaloa provided information on rival cartels.

The relation between cartels and the US government can be hazardous to explore in detail. Gary Webb, the journalist who first covered this connection in his series “Dark Alliance” died under mysterious circumstances:

While the above information may appear scandalous, in a sense it stands to reason that our government would have some degree of involvement with the cartels. In a narco-state such as Mexico, many cartels arguably function as paramilitary forces, “states within states” that exert tremendous power politically. Different political factions will have the backing of different cartels, and the geopolitical benefit of supporting a specific cartel linked to an “ally” favorable to the United States may outweigh the downside in the estimation of government officials. In the interview with Mexican narco-journalist excerpted above, the journalist even goes on to describe how the Chinese have made inroads into certain Mexican cartels, thereby inducting the Mexican narco-state into the emerging Cold War II between the United States and China:

The whole thing is a dark and dirty business, yet some would say that one cannot understand the true power structure in the United States without understanding the intricate and delicate ways in which certain elements of the intelligence community intersect with various sectors of the underworld. It is a story far older than the cartels, and far older even than infamous cases such as Iran-Contra and the vexed relationship between the CIA and the mob. It is doubtful that the American people will ever know the full truth, or anything close to it.
