Patrick Mahomes not getting into brother Jackson’s sexual battery case: ‘Personal thing’

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes declined to address the legal troubles currently engulfing his younger brother, stating in part how he wants to keep his thoughts on the matter to himself.

When speaking Wednesday as the team reported for OTAs, the two-time Super Bowl champion, 27, was asked about Jackson Mahomes, who was arrested for sexual battery earlier this month following an alleged incident at a Kansas City-area bar in February.

“Honestly, it’s kind of a personal thing that I just kind of gotta keep to myself,” Mahomes said, according to Fox4 KC.

“At the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family at the same time. So just kind of keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I’m in the building.”

The 23-year-old Jackson was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and an additional count of misdemeanor battery.

The influencer, who boasts over a million followers on TikTok, is accused of sexually assaulting the owner of the Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park.

Aspen Vaughn, the owner of the establishment, alleged in a March interview with the Kansas City Star that Jackson “forcibly kiss[ed] me out of nowhere.

Further, a police affidavit states Jackson “grabbed [Aspen Vaughn] by the throat, forcing her head back and kissed her and put his tongue in her mouth” three times without her consent.

Brendan Davies, an attorney for Jackson, stated his client committed no wrongdoing in a statement from March.

Jackson posted a $100,000 bond following his arrest on May 3.

His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 31.

In a follow-up question to Mahomes on Wednesday, the quarterback was asked about how he navigates what personal matters to keep private.

“I think that’s a process everyone has to navigate in life,” the quarterback said. “Obviously, I’m on a bigger stage but at the same time, it’s your family, but you have to come in here and do a job, and that’s what I try to do every day.”

Jackson joined his brother in February when the Chiefs celebrated their Super Bowl win over the Eagles.
