Over the years, we’ve all known Matt Drudge to be a muckraker and a tabloid figure, but there were always some lines that he wouldn’t dare to cross. But now, in his zeal to place Joe Biden’s desiccated corpse inside the confines of the Oval Office, there are no lows to which Drudge won’t stoop.

Earlier today, Drudge took to his website to declare that Melania had launched a “private war on Christmas” and that she “swears like a sailor.”

We all knew that Matt Drudge had Trump Derangement Syndrome, but none of us knew it was this bad.

Attacking President Trump is one thing, as he’s the one actually wielding power, and even we will admit he says quite a few controversial things. But stooping to attack Melania over a private conversation she had with a backstabbing friend is downright disgusting.

No honest person actually believes that Melania Trump was talking bad about Christmas. She was just making the obvious point that she is willing and able to fulfill her duties as First Lady, even in the face of a seemingly more pressing onslaught of liberal media attacks on her character.

In any case, it is altogether unclear why Matt Drudge and Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who is the lady that leaked the “Melania tapes,” are so concerned with a War on Christmas, because they both practice the Jewish faith. Perhaps they are non-Christians who have a special reverence for the holiday. Certainly, there are many Jewish people who greatly respect Christians, and vice versa. In any case the smearjob feels very cynical. The public isn’t buying their crocodile tears.

Anderson Cooper himself could hardly keep a straight face as he accused Melania of launching a “War on Christmas.” Since when does our secular, anti-Christian media care about Christmas? Go to 5:00 in the video to watch him awkwardly try to pose as the Defender of Christmas.

Yeah, he’s not exactly Charlemagne.

Even in the wake of Melania’s Covid diagnosis, Matt Drudge has not relented and removed the attack from his website.

Drudge simply doesn’t care that the First Lady has just been diagnosed with a deadly disease. He’s blinded by a frothing hatred of Trump and anything associated with him.

Matt Drudge has been reduced to repackaging CNN narratives on his website to try to “get” Trump. No wonder traffic is plummeting.

Trump’s Right: Drudge Report’s Audience Is Down Nearly 40% From Last Year

President Donald Trump slammed Matt Drudge and his Drudge Report Sunday and Monday, and while it’s subjective to argue whether the right-leaning news aggregator has moved away from positive Trump stories, one thing is true: Drudge’s readership is down a whopping 38% from last year.

According to Comscore data, the Drudge Report had 1.488 million unique visitors in July 2020 — the most recent month for which data is available. That’s down 38.0% from July 2019, when the site boasted 2.399 million unique visitors. [The Wrap]

Rumors are even swirling that Drudge is seeking a lifeline from investors in the form of a cash infusion.

Drudge, who has described himself as “libertarian except for drugs and abortion,” quickly made his bones as a must-read for anyone in the beltway and has reportedly helped numerous Republican operatives attack opponents and win elections.

But his influence appears to have diminished with the rise of social media outlets like Twitter. According to Lysiak, the site drew in a billion page views a month in its heyday but more recently has been pulling in 20 million views. [NY Post]

Matt Drudge is a quintessential example of a grassroots phenom who made it big, only to forget where he came from and betray his core constituency. Conservatives, populists, and patriotic moderates and liberals made Drudge who he is today, but now he has clearly gone over to the dark side. Perhaps we will all be treated to the delightful sight of Matt Drudge marching on the White House in a Pink Pussy Hat after President Trump wins election on November 3rd.
