Trans child molester given lenient sentence thanks to far-left policies now charged with first-degree murder

Hannah Tubbs, the infamous transgender criminal who was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl, is now accused of committing first-degree murder.

Who is Tubbs?

Tubbs, a biological male, generated national headlines in January after being sentenced to just two years in a juvenile detention facility for molesting a 10-year-old girl in 2014. Tubbs is 26 years old.

Tubbs, who identified as James when the assault occurred, received the lenient sentence thanks to the controversial policies of far-left Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. At the time, Gascón had a policy that barred juvenile offenders from being prosecuted as adults, no matter how heinous the crime.

This policy meant that, despite the sexual assault having occurred just two weeks before Tubbs turned 18, Tubbs was prosecuted as a juvenile. Tubbs was later caught laughing and bragging about the light sentence.

What is happening now?

Tubbs was arraigned in Kern County Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder and robbery. Tubbs pleaded not guilty. A judge set Tubbs' bail at $1 million.

Prosecutors accuse Tubbs of murdering a man, Michael Clark, in 2019. KTLA-TV reported:

A criminal complaint provided by the Kern County District Attorney’s office alleges Tubbs killed Clark on or about April 21, 2019, Clark’s body was found in the Kern River in August 2019. The College Place, Washington man was reported missing on May 2 by friends who visited the area with him.

In a statement, the Los Angeles County District attorney's office said officials were not aware of the murder allegations against Tubbs earlier this year.

"We were unaware of the murder allegations against Ms. Tubbs until today," the statement said. "As a result, we were never given the opportunity to consider this critical information before proceeding with our case in Los Angeles County. The murder in Kern County took place before our case was adjudicated."

KTLA reported that Tubbs is being held in a men's jail.

After outcry over the Tubbs case, Gascón amended his controversial policy that awarded Tubbs a lenient sentence.

Now, juvenile offenders in Los Angeles County may be transferred to the adult court system "in the most egregious cases that warrant a state prison commitment."
