63% of Americans think the Hunter Biden laptop story IS important: New poll shows scandal HAS impacted voters as more FBI whistleblowers come forward to reveal how bureau suppressed the story
- A new poll shows that nearly two-thirds of likely voters feel that the Hunter Biden laptop story is at least somewhat important
- Another 34% is evenly split between those who think the story is 'not very important' or 'not at all important'
- Comes as Republican lawmakers reveal a string of FBI and DOJ whistleblowers who are coming forward alleging bias within the bureau
- Whistleblowers claim efforts from higher ups to conceal or discredit negative information about Hunter and his laptop
Nearly two-thirds of Americans feel that the information from Hunter Biden's laptop is 'important,' despite whistleblowers' claims that FBI leadership tried to suppress the story and downplay its contents.
A Rasmussen Reports survey tracking the public's perception of the Hunter laptop story shows that 44 percent Americans think it's still 'very important' to follow the findings while another 19 percent say it's 'somewhat important'.
Another 34 percent are even split between those who say the story is 'not very important' and 'not at all important.'
Only 3 percent of the 1,000 likely voters surveyed between August 31 and September 1 say they are 'not sure'.
The outcome from this poll this month are not far off from the same poll conducted in March – with the main difference showing that there was just a 3 percent decline in those who say the story is important that was shifted to those who say it's not important.

The poll comes as Republican lawmakers reveal a string of FBI and DOJ whistleblowers who are coming forward alleging bias within the bureau and efforts from higher ups to conceal or discredit negative information about Hunter and his laptop. Results follow a tweak in the wording of the question posed to likely voters.
The March poll referenced a recent New York Times report that finally conceded President Biden's son's business affairs in foreign countries found on the laptop were authentic – this followed months of reporting from other outlets, including DailyMail.com, on the validity of the harddrive and its contents.
The initial story on the laptop published in The New York Post led to the outlet's Twitter lockdown and the story was also censored on Facebook.
The latest poll doesn't reference reporting on the authenticity of the laptop.
Republicans have decried a 'double standard' in how the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) handle cases involving the Bidens versus the Trumps.
They specifically point to the raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate and question why Hunter's home hasn't been searched for more materials after the laptop was authenticated.
On the laptop were emails where Hunter was discussing business deals with Ukraine and China, and referenced a cut for the 'Big Guy', which multiple sources claim was referring to President Biden.
Continued skepticism over the importance of Biden's laptop comes as whistleblowers from the FBI and Justice Department are stepping forward to allege a stream of bias within the bureau and agency.
Senator Chuck Grassley said in July that he spoke to 'highly credible' whistleblowers alleging an effort within the FBI to downplay or discredit negative information about Hunter and the laptop story.
'The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI's receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI's false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation,' the Iowa senator wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 25.
'The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter,' he added.
