After being told my Twitter account was "locked" for at least one week for the following factual and lowkey tweet, I am apparently out of Twitter gulag after four days. I've been given no explanation for either action by Twitter.

unz.com/isteve/ive-bee…
I received lots of notifications that I was on the Twitter Naughty List, such as the following two, but none that I'm evidently back early on the Nice List.
Yes, blacks are the victims and/or perps in a majority of all homicides in the U.S. In the FBI’s 2021 stats, blacks made up 59.4% of known murder victims and 60.4% of known murder offenders. According to the CDC, 55.0% of all homicide victims were black:

unz.com/isteve/ive-bee…
The CDC's cause-of-death statistics show both black deaths by homicide and black deaths by motor vehicle accidents exploding to historically high levels during the racial reckoning following George Floyd's demise in May 2020, most likely due to less policing of blacks.
Blacks drove the recent homicide increase: In 2019, 9,951 non-Hispanic blacks died by homicide, but in 2021, 14,313 did, an increase of 4362, or 43.8%. In 2019, 9190 nonblacks of all other ancestries died by homicide, which rose to 11,718 in 2021, an increase of 2528 or 27.5%.
It's time for a reckoning of the elites who promoted the "racial reckoning" of mid-2020 that got so many incremental black lives murdered and black lives splattered in traffic fatalities.

How gay is soccer?

A reader writes: "The English media is really, really obsessed with finding a gay male soccer player willing to come out and has been for about ten years."

unz.com/isteve/how-gay…
Here's my 1994 article "Why Lesbians Aren't Gay" that pioneered the use of AIDS death rates to estimate % of gay men in a field: e.g., both Olympic gold medalist figure skaters of the 1970s died of AIDS vs. zero professional tour golfers.

unz.com/isteve/why-les…
The only major league baseball player to die of AIDS was Glenn Burke of the 1977-78 L.A. Dodgers, whom I recall as the worst player on a fine team.

There was a gay player of 1960s-80s who was one tier below Hall of Fame, but he was a stereotypical gentleman so of no interest.

Why are soccer goalies so white? The physical demands of diving horizontally seem similar to those of playing third base in baseball. Great baseball third basemen like Brooks Robinson and Mike Schmidt tend to be whites who aren't fast runners but have a super quick first step.
One oddity of baseball history is that 3rd basemen became much better hitters after WWII. My theory is that in part, strong-armed white sluggers like Babe Ruth would have played right field before but now there were faster blacks, so quick reflex whites learned to play third.
My guess is that goalies tend to be drawn from the ranks of soccer players with tactical awareness, great reflexes, and a quick first step but not a high top speed, rather like baseball third basemen.

@crimkadid Every village in Europe had their own version of football, like the still existent Eton Wall Game and Ashbourne Mob Football. Anglos got railways first, allowing teams to travel, leading to conventions of team captains at railway hotels where local rules were nationalized.
@crimkadid During the American Civil War, Union soldiers in Army camps played a lot of baseball, which is descended from English rounders. But everybody had their own local rules, with the most evolved being NYC's and Boston's. Eventually, NYC rules won the loyalty of Midwestern troops.
@crimkadid American football evolved out of rugby during the post-Civil War era at a series of post-season conventions at railroad terminal hotels, as college coaches got together annually to debate and vote to modify the rules based on what happened each season.

To find 12 more-or-less black players for the U.S. World Cup squad despite African-Americans being little interested in soccer required coming up with rather exotic blacks.

For example, forward Timothy Weah’s father George is the president of Liberia.

takimag.com/article/soccer…
Another black player on the US World Cup team, Yunus Musah, is an anchor baby born to a Ghanian mother on vacation in the U.S., who has lived almost solely in Europe and has played more than thirty international matches for England’s national youth teams.

takimag.com/article/soccer…
Strikingly, the huge focus on finding black soccer players left no room on US World Cup team for a single player of Mexican descent, despite Mexican-Americans being roughly as numerous as African-Americans and playing a lot more soccer.

The Fox Butterfield Fallacy is back!

In the tough-on-crime 1990s, NYT reporter Fox Butterfield would wonder why the number of inmates was going up while murders were falling. We don't have that problem anymore, but Tory-ruled UK does, so the NYT is mad that UK crime isn't rising
The British Tory government, for all its faults, has been tough on crime during its 12 years of rule, unlike the US Establishment. The NYT is aghast that it remains hard on gang murders, despite UK murders not going up during the pandemic.

unz.com/isteve/fox-but…
The NYT always blames the big murder rise 2020 USA on the pandemic rather than on (cough, mumble, look down) the George Floyd racial reckoning.

But in the UK, like most countries, murders haven't gone up during the pandemic, so the NYT is mad the UK is still tough on crime.

Here's an improved version of my scatterplot showing an r=0.82 correlation coefficient of states' share of the population that is black and per capita homicide victimizations of residents from the CDC WONDER cause-of-death database.

unz.com/isteve/does-gu…
I flipped the axes around so now being above the trend line, like New Mexico, Missouri, and DC, suggests a worse total homicide rate than racial demographics alone would suggest, while GA, MD, VA, NY, & MA are better. Also, states with notable American Indian shares are in red.
Here's a scatterplot of Biden's share of the vote in 2020 vs. white homicide victimizations rates: a moderate negative correlation.
