Bill Gates Calls On the United States to Take A Softer Line Against China

Billionaire tech magnate Bill Gates believes that the United States and Australia should take a more relaxed approach with regards to China. He believes that the two English-speaking countries can cooperate with China on issues such as climate change.

Gates gave China praise for its robust economic growth.

“I see China’s rise as a huge win for the world … the current mentality of the U.S. to China—and which is reciprocated—is kind of a lose-lose mentality,” he said at a speech for the Lowy Institute in Sydney, Australia on January 23, 2023.

“That could be very self-fulfilling in a very negative way,” declared Gates. The Microsoft founder believes that a West vs. China confrontation could have a negative impact on medical research and progress on climate change.

“We’re all in this together. We’re humans. We innovate together and we have to change the modern industrial economy together in a pretty dramatic fashion,” Gates declared.

In a similar vein, Gates praised the Australian government for keeping Wuhan virus infection rates low.

“Some of the things that stand out are that Australia and about seven other countries did population scale diagnostics early on and had quarantine policies … that meant you kept the level of infection low in that first year when there were no vaccines,” he observed.

In addition, Gates urged for closer partnership between governments and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to tackle future pandemics.

“We need to be doing, every five years, a comprehensive exercise at both country and regional levels of pandemic preparedness, and you need a global group that’s scoring everybody,” he remarked.

“The idea of large campaigns communicating with the public about infectious disease, they [the WHO] have some of those skill sets, and their work was incredibly beneficial.”

Gates is a globalist creep that’s more concerned about undermining national sovereignty and making his former enterprises supersede the nation-state. In fairness, neoconservative/neoliberal hawkishness towards China is misplaced. However, the US must address immigration and trade policy with China given the country’s track record of weaponizing immigration and using questionable trade practices that undermine the US. Though those problems can be addressed by not having to pursue bellicose action against China.

Gates is part of the old elite class who futilely wants to restore the failed Chimerica project of yore, which hollowed America’s middle class to China and the American oligarchical class’s benefit. While Gates should be praised for his entrepreneurial prowess, his foray into public policy should be thoroughly condemned.
