Meghan Markle to distance herself from Harry as Duchess' rebranding is 'priority'

A royal commentator has said that there appear to be signs that Meghan Markle may relaunch her old blog, The Tig, in an attempt to prove to the world that she's more than Harry's plus one

Meghan Markle is showing signs that she may be trying to establish her own brand, separate from her husband Harry, according to a royal commentator.

Kinsey Schofield said there are apparent signs that Meghan may try to revive her old blog, The Tig, in an attempt to show the world that she is “more than Harry’s plus one”.

Meghan ran her blog from 2014 to 2018, deactivating the blog after her relationship with her now-husband Harry Windsor was made public.

Archives of the blog show that Meghan used it to talk about a variety of topics, including food, health, beauty and her personal thoughts.

Kinsey said that the potential rebrand comes after several years of Meghan being put in the backseat of the couple’s relationship.

"Harry and Meghan have told us repeatedly through multiple projects that Meghan gave up everything for Harry”, Kinsey said.

The commentator said that while she may choose to relaunch the blog on February 14, an important day for the Sussexes, she is also likely to delay it until it is deemed perfect.

"Keeping all of their launches under wraps is their typical MO. It allows the Sussexes to shift the goalpost without looking like failures”, she said.

"If we don’t see a February release for The Tig, it’s simply because the product is not perfect yet. But this is an important way for Meghan to brand herself beyond being Harry’s wife, and I believe it is a priority for her”, she added.

Kinsey also said that the blog would likely not be a controversial one, adding: “She might get political, but we have come to expect that of her, so it has less of an impact.”

The commentator said she expects the blog would pivot to a “mommy blog” style, with the majority of her output focussing on her children.

"I would anticipate lists of Archie and Lili’s favourite books, go-to snacks, DIY projects. Candid entries about how she manages her time or stress, a five-minute makeup routine for moms on the go; mini-meditations for busy moms, travel, interior design, interviews, those types of posts”, she said.
