Megan Rapinoe, Other Athletes Show Their True Intentions By Opposing Protecting Women’s Sports From Transgender Athletes

On Monday, 40 various female professional athletes joined together to send a letter to Congress to oppose the Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act which seeks to ban transgender athletes from competing in gendered sports that do not align with their biological sex.

The group of 40 who signed the letter, with notable soccer star Megan Rapinoe as a cosigner, was brought together by the LGBTQ advocacy organization Athlete Ally.

The 40 athletes argue that the bill in question, H.R. 734 introduced by Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL), would exclude transgender students from sports, as reported by Fox News Digital.

“Right now, transgender and intersex human rights are under attack, with politicians in Washington D.C. pushing forward H.R. 734, the so-called ‘Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act’, which would stipulate that Title IX compliance requires banning transgender and intersex girls and women from participating in sports,” the letter says. “If this bill passes, transgender and intersex girls and women throughout the country will be forced to sit on the sidelines, away from their peers and their communities.”

“Furthermore, the policing of who can and cannot play school sports will very likely lead to the policing of the bodies of all girls, including cisgender girls. This will deter girls from participating in sports and create additional barriers,” the group continued. “Denying children access to a place where they can gain significant mental and physical health benefits, and learn lifelong lessons that come from being part of a team and working hard towards your goals does not protect women in sports.”

The push to oppose the legislation comes as President Biden has made moves to change a Title IX rule via the bureaucracy that would ban transgender athletes prohibitions that have been passed in various state legislators across the country in recent years.

“This bill ensures that biological females compete against other biological females in women’s sports sponsored by entities receiving federal education funding,” according to a press release.

Rep. Virginia Foxx, the chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education and original cosponsor of Steube’s bill stated that she refused to sacrifice the safety of girls to appease transgenderism.

“I refuse to sacrifice the safety of girls and women on the field and in the locker room to the woke Left,” Foxx said in a press release. “The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023 will restore the safety, privacy, and opportunities of women and girls in sports. Our nation passed Title IX 50 years ago to give women equal access to education and athletic opportunities. This revolutionized women’s sports.

“Moving backward is not an option. We must honor the original intent of Title IX,” she added.

“Think about the irony of how Megan Rapinoe has spent years complaining about how unfair women’s soccer players are treated in comparison to the men but now is fully in favor of biological men playing her sport,” Greg Price commented on Twitter.

As the issue of transgender athletes competing on women’s sports teams continues to heat up, Rapinoe shows that she is more willing to protest the interests of woke progressives than the actual women who would be dominated by biological men in sports.
