'Blood is on your hands': Ex-boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko hits out at Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens for criticizing US support for Ukraine during Russia's invasion adding 'we share the same democratic principles'

  • Wladimir Klitschko said those who are 'passively observing' Ukraine 'have blood on their hands'
  • Carlson has questioned why defending Ukraine is important and asked why the US should side with them and not Putin
  • Owens has gone even further by openly parroting Putin's false narrative

Ukrainian boxing star Wladimir Klitschko has hit out at Fox News host Tucker Carlson and right-wing commentator Candace Owens for criticizing US support for Ukraine during Russia's invasion.

The former two-time heavyweight world champion boxer said that those who are 'passively observing' Ukraine and not standing with the country's people after Russia invaded 'have blood on their hands'.

Whilst Carlson has repeatedly questioned why defending Ukraine is important and even asked why the US should side with them and not Vladimir Putin, Owens has gone even further by openly parroting the Russian President's false narrative that was used as a justify the war.

Klitschko, the brother of Kyiv's mayor Vitali, told Newsmax host Eric Bolling that those who are not supporting Ukraine are by default standing in opposition to the country in their fight against Putin.

He was responding to a question by Bolling about what he would say to a 'small group' of Americans who believe Russia's invasion of Ukraine is 'not America's problem', whilst naming Owens and Carlson as examples.

Klitschko, who alongside his brother has taken up arms to repel the Russian army, said on 'Eric Bolling the Balance': 'If you passively observe what is going on, and we do share the same principles of freedom and democratic principles, like the United States, like the Western world, so speak.

'If you are passively observing, you are part of this invasion, blood is on your hands, too.'

Klitschko added: 'If you still have business and trade with Russia and you don't isolate Russia economically, you're bringing bullets and rockets into the Russian army's hands.

'Those disturbing images of my country... you should feel a connection with that.'

Owens has faced backlash after she falsely claimed 'Ukraine wasn't a thing until 1989' during an interview on the Daily Wire shot. She went on to falsely parrot Putin's justification for the war that Ukraine is part of Russia and not it's own sovereign state.

'It was, you know, they speak Russian. So, it's absolutely ridiculous. And, again, this entire episode has been exposing to you how ignorant people are about the goals of Vladimir Putin,' she falsely claimed. 'He has goals. The goal is not just to get rid of Ukrainians. That makes entirely no sense. It would not be helpful for him.'

Owens also parroted Putin's false claims that NATO was expanding eastwards.

'I suggest every American who wants to know what's (asterisk)actually(asterisk) going on in Russia and Ukraine, read this transcript of Putin's address. As I've said for month — NATO (under direction from the United States) is violating previous agreements and expanding eastward. WE are at fault,' she tweeted.

Meanwhile, Owens has criticized the New York Times for shifting their narratives on issues such as corruption in Ukraine.

The Times had asked Owens about how she 'advanced an idea that Ukraine was a corrupt country' but she hit back at the newspaper by saying that she had read about the corruption in articles written by the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Carlson has been accused of spreading Russian propaganda and 'rooting' for Russia in 2019 and more recently complaining Ukraine is 'not even a democracy'.

The Fox News host devoted segments on his shows this month to promoting a conspiracy theory suggesting that Russia invaded Ukraine to destroy secret American biological research facilities in the country.

Carlson misrepresented congressional testimony from a State Department official saying the U.S. was working with Ukraine to secure material in the biological labs, suggesting that indicated the labs were being used for illegitimate purposes.

Like any effective conspiracy theory, the Russian claim relies on some truths: Ukraine does maintain a network of biological labs dedicated to research into pathogens, and those labs have received funding and research support from the U.S.

But the labs are owned and operated by Ukraine, and the work is not secret. It's part of an initiative called the Biological Threat Reduction Program that aims to reduce the likelihood of deadly outbreaks, whether natural or manmade.

The U.S. efforts date back to work in the 1990s to dismantle the former Soviet Union's program for weapons of mass destruction.

Meanwhile, Carlson suggested that US government officials wanted a war to occur between Russia and Ukraine after emergency powers enacted during Covid had come to an end.

Speaking during his monologue on Fox News, Carlson claimed the war allowed the U.S. government to shift focus and further 'grab more power.'

Carlson suggested Americans following the war in Ukraine were actually being manipulated by power-hungry bureaucrats.

Carlson then said Americans have been consumed by 'groupthink' when it comes to the Russian invasion but that U.S. government officials are delighted because it means all domestic issues have now been neglected.

Following criticism, Carlson claimed he was only being targeted because he was not supportive of a US-led war in Ukraine.

'Anyone who suggests there might be a way out of this disaster short of total war, anyone who says that is immediately denounced as a tool of Russian propaganda,' Carlson said.
