The Washington Post recently published an uncharacteristic op-ed highlighting the weaponization of our judicial system is  a tad ironic.  The article by Jason Willick paints a picture of a judicial system weaponized for partisan objectives.

We’ve seen it time and time again lately in cases involving involving Jan. 6 defendants, President Trump, meme-maker Douglass Mackey, Uber driver Daniel Perry, Subway hero Daniel Penny, or pro-life activist Mark Houck — all good conservative Americans who have experienced the sharp end of the judicial activism sword.

The weaponization of the judicial system, which has become a favorite tool of the left, could be coming to an abrupt end soon, thankfully — Willick’s op-ed indicates that all of the above persecuted Americans may just have a ray of hope of true justice being done thanks to recent unanimous decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Washington Post:

The tempo of American political news is increasingly set by investigations, subpoenas, indictments, judgments and verdicts. This resort to “lawfare” is crowding out normal politics, and one result is that more and more current events are explained to us by former federal prosecutors, who are marquee guests on cable television.

The trend has underlined the prosecutorial temptation to crusading self-righteousness. The people charged with enforcing federal law seem to thrill at finding new ways to prosecute politically unsympathetic people who have behaved badly, even when their behavior wasn’t clearly illegal.

The good news is that the Supreme Court is resisting this trend, and the lower courts may finally be starting to follow suit.

Willick goes on to describe three recent Supreme Court decisions overturning convictions secured by the deranged Russiagate Resistance prosecutor Preet Bharara and one involving the prosecution of former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell. One of those prosecutions involved the infamous Chris Christie “Bridgegate” case.

The vote in each of those three cases? 9-0, 9-0, 9-0. Shockingly unanimous.

So, what does this mean for President Trump, January 6th defendants, Douglass Mackey, who was recently convicted of “conspiracy” for sharing an anti-Hillary meme, and others?

Well, hopefully it means that lower courts and appellate courts will follow the lead of the Supreme Court and stop behaving like activists in the D.A.’s office and on the bench. Defendants like Douglass Mackey and the J6ers who are appealing their wrongful convictions may actually have a shot at justice after all.
